Axinar’s pellet boilers are the most cost-efficient solution in heating systems. Our customers benefit from a 50% reduction in the cost of heating compared to oil and up to 30% compared to natural gas, while the estimated payback time of our systems is 1 to 3 years, depending on their use.

Pellets are an alternative solid biofuel, which comes from the drying and compression of wood chips (wood pellets) or residues of agricultural crops (sunflower seed or olive pellets), free of any adhesive chemicals.

Pellets are classified into the renewable energy sources, as their carbon dioxide cycle is zero.

Plants capture solar energy and CO2, in order to photosynthesize and grow. By burning pellets, the captured CO2 is released again into the atmosphere. In practice, the CO2 quantity released into the atmosphere either by the combustion of pellet fuel, or by the decomposition of the tree is equal to the quantity that is required for the plant to grow.

In essence, the tree operates as a solar power battery and the boiler uses a transformed solar power form.

The exact price of pellets is determined by their quality characteristics; however, it ranges approximately between €2.2-€2.8/kg. Pellets are a seasonal product, so their price fluctuates, according to the rules of supply and demand.

Consumers should take into account their special characteristics like: its thermal efficiency, its moisture content, its dust content and its ash melting point.

Pellets are distinguished into classes, based on their quality characteristics. The quality standards for pellets are set by the EN 14961-2 European Quality Standard. According to this standard, pellets fall into 3 classes: ΕΝPlus-Α1, ΕΝPlus-Α2, EN-Β. The basic feature for their classification is their moisture content, which affects their energy performance and efficiency. Moreover, the high ash content lowers their quality, as a higher amount of pollutants are released to the environment and the smooth operation of the burner is affected. The use of non-certified pellet fuel of dubious quality may cause damages to the boiler, due to poor combustion and high particulate emissions into the atmosphere.

Boilers are certified by a verified certification body according to the 303-5-2012 standard. The boilers of Axinar have a Class 5 Certification, which confirms their quality, and comply with the new RHI regulation.

Axinar boilers have all the necessary documents and certifications to be subsidized by any program in any European country. Indicatively, both Axinar, as a manufacturer, and its products figure on the official list of suppliers in Greece, the Netherlands and other European countries. The boiler is accompanied by energy labels, performance measurements and a declaration of compliance. We have enough flexibility to adapt to the needs of the programs.

Humidity affects the quality of pellet fuel. Its storage is easy. The usual package of 15kg, in a plastic bag, facilitates its storage and adequately protects against adverse environmental conditions. Even in the case of failure, the problem is limited to one package only.

In order to extend the lifespan and good functioning of the boiler it is recommended that maintenance is performed to the boiler once a year, by a trained technician.

The cost of maintenance of the pellet boiler ranges approximately between 30 and 40 Euros per year, which is equal to the cost of maintenance of an oil or natural gas boiler.

Boilers have a large ash container. The frequency of cleaning depends on the use and the model.

Indicatively, the ash container requires cleaning per 500kg of pellets for a 35Kw boiler, 1 ton for a 45Kw boiler and 2 tonnes for a 75kw boiler.

The fueling of the boiler depends on the capacity of its feeding tank. Axinar’s pellet boilers offer autonomy of between 200 kg and 1.5 tons of fuel depending on the model.

The warranty and its estimated life are not the same. Many times for marketing reasons we confuse these two concepts. The estimated life of an Axinar boiler is 20-25 years. This is the result of the application of EN 303-5: 2012 and the high quality of raw materials. The warranty set out by the European Regulation guarantees the end user against defective products, obliging any manufacturer to replace any defective machine for defects that have not been detected by the time of purchase. The only document proving the warranty expiry date is the purchase receipt, with reference to the serial number of the machine. Axinar offers 5 years warranty on mechanical parts and 1 year warranty on electronics.

Pellet fuel is classified as renewable energy, as it is produced by wood by-products, and is a natural material without chemical additives. The use of certified pellet fuel of a high quality, reduces the emissions of carbon monoxide and other pollutants to the environment, compared to an oil boiler. Thus, the use of pellet fuel not only has no adverse environmental effects, but also helps in the protection of the environment.

The boiler is equipped with a ceramic igniter that blows hot air at 1200°C to automatically start the fuel. The operator simply controls the room thermostat and the rest of the process is fully automated.

Ceramic igniters have a much higher operating temperature, and a much longer service life (10,000 burns). The ceramic igniter operates at 1200°C in comparison to the 750°C of the wire one. As a result, it can ignite pure corn, which is the most difficult fuel to ignite. From the start to the first flame the igniter needs about 45 seconds. The only disadvantage of ceramic igniters is their price, though it depreciates over time. It is therefore used only in high quality standards’ boilers.

The AXINAR pellet boiler is connected to a space thermostat, just like any other boiler. Depending on the water temperature and the thermostat condition, the boiler’s electronic control adjusts itself as to if and when the boiler should turn on.

In a liquid or solid fuel boiler, the time between the command to a fully developed flame is less than a second. In a biomass boiler, this time is about one and a half minutes. As a result, an oil boiler can switch on and off accordingly when it has to work at lower power. A biomass boiler cannot do this. The only way to generate less power is to vary the amount of fuel (multi-stage operation). Axinar boiler software, constantly controls the water temperature, and adjusts its power to keep the temperature stable.

Depending on the areas we have to warm, we may need different compensation in each room. The technique of centrally offsetting the boiler is now outdated and in modern plants, the boiler produces a constant high temperature, which provides maximum efficiency. The compensation is achieved locally by a 4-way valve controlled by the room thermostat.

Axinar boilers have automatic lever cleaning system. All it takes is 2-3 oscillations to free your boiler from the ash on the heat exchanger. The technician should perform a thorough combustion chamber inspection and cleaning once a year.

The burner controls the air supply from 10% to 100%. The air supply is automatically adjusted according to the power output. The chimney traction affects the air supply, however, it is possible for the installer to make some microadjustments.

The combustion chamber is made of stainless steel for a longer life. The combustion chamber efficiency depends on both the material and its design. The air is supplied in such a way that the flame does not rest on the walls of the chamber, but is swirled in its center, resulting in reduced pollutants and carbon monoxide.

Axinar manufactures its own control board and uses its own software. The software is fully adapted to the needs of our machine. With the use of universal software, we can constantly develop and customize it.

The actual performance is 93.4% (EN 303-5: 2012) and meets the Class 5 performance requirements.

For comparison reasons, the Regulation requires two measurements, at 30% and 100% of power, to define the class.

In real terms, Axinar burners can adapt and operate anywhere between 10 and 100% depending on the space needs. This is something that the regulation cannot measure, but it substantially increases the actual efficiency of the boiler.
